The
Ladies & Gentlemen of the 1860s Conference, the premier national conference on the clothing and culture of the Civil War Era, will be held March 4-7, 2010, at the Radisson Penn Harris in Camp Hill, PA. Complete details about the conference are available at
www.genteelarts.com.
Many of us would rather skip Christmas than this conference, but if you are unable to attend the whole conference, please join us for the formal dinner and ball on Saturday, March 6, 2010. The evening's festivities will begin with a reception at 6:00 PM, followed by dinner at 6:30 and dancing at 8:00. Music will be provided by The Wildcat Band, led by Bruno J. Pino, and Smash the Windows, led by Bruce Young on fiddle. Briant and Karin Bohleke will serve as Dance Master and Mistress. Del and Trish Hilbert of The Victorian Photography Studio in Gettysburg will set up to take photographs of individuals or groups in their finest period attire.
The cost is $45 per person for the dinner and ball or $15 per person for the ball only. Hotel information is included on the Genteel Arts website. For other information, contact me at the email address below (preferred) or call me at 717-337-0748.
The deadline for reservations is Monday, February 22, so payment by credit card is preferred. To make a reservation using a credit card, call Carolann Schmitt (the conference organizer) at 717-337-0283 or send a secure fax to 717-337-0314 with your credit card information (card number, expiration date, security code and billing address for the card holder), the names of the individuals attending and whether they want a vegetarian entree for dinner.
If you prefer to send a check, mail it to Genteel Arts, LLC, P.O. Box 3014, Gettysburg, PA 17325-0014. Include the names of the individuals attending and whether they want a vegetarian entree for dinner. Because time is short, please also call Carolann or send her an email to
info@genteelarts.com to tell her how many people will be in your party so she can save space for you.
This is the 16th year for the conference, but the first time a ball has been included. Please come make it grand success.
